I go to a international school in the center of Singapore , on my first day of school I was extremely nervous. The reason is I thought i was the only new student and i wouldn’t make any friends. When i got to school my teacher dropped me to class 4.1. In class I put my bag near the teacher’s desk then I waited till 9:00am. I saw a new student his name was A.O , I spoke to him and asked: “can we be friends” , He replied something in japanese and I couldn’t understand.
We then started PE (Sports) I felt better because I love sports , you should consider reading my other blog post about my jiu-jitsu journey were you can see me being active. When we did PE i made friends who’s names are C.M , A.B , R.S and OC. When we started PE we began running , after a few laps we then played dodgeball. I am very good at dodgeball , I kept grabbing and taking each ball , I kept hitting the girls with the softball on the knees , i felt sorry for my teamates for not having a go , every ball I got from the girls I would give to my team-mates
After we played PE we went back to class to do maths with mister Lucas. He is a good teacher but he made a mistake saying my name. He called me alvardo but not for a joke he just can’t say me name. In maths we learned about data and with data we picked a topic like places for e.g Universal studios and sentosa. After we completed our graphs he let us go out of our seats. We then went around the classroom asking everyone a question , for example have you been to sentosa and if they say, “yes” you add a tally mark , if they say “no” you wouldn’t add a tally mark. But you need to have 5 different question , they need to stick with the topic for e.g have you been to sentosa , have you been to Universal Studios , have you been to Vivocity and similar.
At reccess it was indoor playtime. In indoor playtime my friends and i played with the pilliows in the reading corner. My friend OC was very naughty he told us to use the pillows and hit each other with out the teacher noticing. After a while me and my friends were hitting each other. Then the teacher came then OC didn’t notice that teacher came so just walked to our seats like nothing happened. When OC just realized that the teacher came 5 minutes ago he was in a shock. The teacher said to him GET OUT OF THE CLASSROOM NOW! OC started crying.
When it was our next lesson Global Perspectives we learnt about human rights. The first thing we learnt was that everyone should be treated how you want to be treated no matter what your skin color is or where your from. The second thing we learnt is that everyone should have a right to education did you know that a public school in singapore cost like $5 how cheap is that . The third thing is that everyone should have a right to privacy no one should touch your stuff without any permission.
In the next lesson we learnt chinese. My name Alvaro in chinese is 阿爾瓦羅 (Álérwǎluó). To say welcome in chinese is Huan ying , in Chinese lessons we have a project , we are drawing a city with supermarkets , gyms , schools and more facilities in chinese. Supermarket in chinese is 超级市场 gym in Chinese is 官员们 school in chinese is 学校.
After chinese lessons , we had lunch , it wasn’t raining so we played outside , me and my friends were playing squid game red light green light. After a while we got bored so we played survival tag. AB was in he is extremely fast so he tipped my friend CM. CM was slow at running. CM started to get mad because he couldn’t tip anyone. Then OC felt sorry for CM so OC let CM tip OC. Then AB made fun of CM of being slow. Then in a rush “TIP” said OC. AB then felt anxious for making fun of CM then getting tipped by OC so he didn’t play with us.
When we went back to class teacher said , “libary time”. In the libary i borrowed this dinosaur book. After we read for a while the teacher read us a book called The cloudy monster but in chinese. In this book i learnt many things about chinese like the cloudy monster in chinese is 阴云密布的怪物.
After she finished reading the book we went back to class to do english. In english we read a book to the class and need to describe what happened in the book.
On Tuesday we took the incorrect bus to school , after a few stops we got dropped of the oppisite direction of my school. My mum and dad just noticed that we were lucky we got off that bus because that bus was going to changi airport. We then saw another bus going to the same area we were going to. So we rushed to the bus. I saw my school then i ran extremely fast. Then i made it on time by 1⃣ minute. After that we did chinese lessons , we just continued about the project we were doing in groups.
After chinese lessons we did art , our teacher was misses Jessica we learnt about making animals , using 2 pieces of paper one paper with a animal the other one 1⃣ the other piece of paper we used oil pastel to colour everything (paper). After we did that we will color the animal with pen and the other paper will pop out with the colour you used and the pen you outline with.
After we did arts we did reccess then playtime as usual. After playtime we did english with Mr Glenn. Each row had a book and someone from the row or group will read the book and we will answer questions like what is the theme of the story. After that Mr glenn gave us paper with more harder questions, after a while of doing the worksheet mr glenn made us watch sesame street till the next class.
Our next class was PE we didn’t play outside because it was raining. So instead we watched MRBEAST squid game. We watched for 60 minutes i got really bord watching MRBEAST videos. So i just sat and red a book a dumb book. The dumb book was about book of zodiac.
On Wednesday we first did writing with miss violet. We were writing about a adventure any adventure. I wrote about a pirate sailing finding treasure.
We then ate our snack first because it was raining. Then when we finished our snack it wasn’t raining so we played outside , we played walking tips because the floor was still wet. Then it started to raini again so the teacher said “get in the classroom”. When we got back inside the classroom it was raining so bad like it thundering. We didn’t get much playtime so we just went to our next lesson.
Our next lesson was chinese, we were still working on our project. We restarted our project because it was really bad. On our new blank a4 piece of paper we did everything neatly.
On Thursday , we did english with Mr Glenn, in this class we learnt about furture tense past tense and present tense. Mr glenn told us to write a sentence any sentence but make it into past tense , present tense and furture tense. And then we will say what we wrote , to the class.
Then in digital literacy one group did maths and the other did english in the maths group we did the activity book like algorithm frequency and data and more. In the english group you just read long long story books to the teacher. After about 30 minutes we will swap groups.
At the end of the day we did pastoral care. Pastoral Care is something to make our bodies healthy so we made a poster about foods. One half of the poster will talk about unhealthy food and the other half will talk about healthy foods.
On Friday , we did maths we used our activity books (maths books). We learnt about frequency , a new concept. Mr lucas told us frequency was the rate at which something occurs over a particular period of time or in a given sample. i couldn’t understand so i tried then i finally got it.
On the next class , english we learnt about comprehension i am very bad at this concept of english. So the teacher Mr glenn taught us how to make our comprehension better. He taught us use better words , use either third person or first person and use paragraphs.
Then it was snack time me and my friends were roasting each other (roast means like you mum is so fat or so old (for a reason)) when it was outdoor playtime we racing each other. AB won at the first race. RS won the second race. Then the last race i won.
Our next lesson was science. We learnt about the solar system , milky way and universe. I just learnt that the solar system is so tiny compared to the milky way. The milky way is 100,000 light years big. (1 light year = 10 trillion km). Then we answered questions in our science books , about space.
The next lesson was english. In english we got the book we red from last time then we will write about it in our books. AFter we did that we will catch up on some pages we left behind blank.
In lunch time we watched this two year 10’s playing chess against each other. White won by checkmate. In outdoor playtime we played survival tag. In this survival tag everyone is in and they need to tip as much people as possible. If you tip the person at the sametime rock , paper , scissors. For all three rounds AB won because he was fast.
Our last lesson of the week chinese. We presented our project and whoever gets a yes from Miss fang (Our chinese teacher) gets 10 house points. And RS my friend , group got chosen.
The final thing thing of the day Assembly. We learnt about ressilience. The 5 awards you can get from the priinicpal is collarbation , resillinence , safety , respect and tolerance. Most people in 4.1 my grade got safety because the girls never ever run on the equitment.
To conclude Singapore school and Australia school , I think i like singapore school better because i could make friends faster like in 1 week , but in Australia i could make friends but just took me 30 days.
